Finchley B&B Wandandian - pet-friendly
February, 2022: Firstly, we would like to thank all the lovely guests who have stayed with us over the summer, many of them return guests, which is delightful.
Your canine hosts now total three Blenheim Cavaliers, as we welcomed another little 6 year old lady to the family in the middle of the year, Millie, who definitely needed a loving environment, and she has now settled in beautifully and loves to meet our canine guests.
While our summer was uncharacteristically overcast much of the time, our guests still managed to enjoy their time based with us, many just glad to get away from the rat race to some peace and quiet with tranquil views and the dog/s having a good romp in the acre that surrounds the main cottage.
We look forward to welcoming more guests as this year unfolds, and thank you all for your interest in Finchley B and B Wandandian.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Many thanks must go to Alex Moussawer, for the gorgeous view (he gave me permission to use in my advertising) of his dear little Yorkshire Terrier, 'Quint' one of our four-footed guests in January 2018. He has been very popular with guests looking at our photo galleries, and a number of more recent guests who have seen this view have taken photos of their own dogs on the swings (if the dogs would let them!). It's been fun, and hopefully we will see some more of these yet!
We continue to remain mindful of the Coronavirus regulations and in an attempt to respect the wellbeing of all our guests, our community and ourselves as hosts with ongoing commitments, I do ask guests to confirm they are fully vaccinated upon requesting a booking, and to provide copies of certificates for my records.
Please note: the main cottage has a minimum of 2 nights' stay throughout the year, and a minimum of any 3 nights over the busiest Christmas-New Year times (school holiday period).
By June of this year, 2022, Finchley B and B will have been operating for seven years, including the successful addition of our Little Finchley unit, which is very popular with through-travellers and short stay guests who don't need all the extra space and amenities of the larger unit. However, with the two units interconnecting where required, we are able to take larger groups by negotiation.
'Little Finchley' has proven to be a great success - in many respects, a scaled down version of the main cottage. Both the cottage (Finchley B and B), and the smaller unit (Little Finchley), are listed with Airbnb, Nowra Visitors Centre and Vrbo (HomeAway-Stayz). Little Finchley is not suitable for more than a couple with one or two pets, and does not have a kitchen - but some limited cooking amenities and bar fridge plus BBQ on its own deck.
We are located just two minutes from the Princes Highway in Wandandian, in the heart of the beautiful Shoalhaven-Jervis Bay region, on 1ha (2.2 acres) of lightly treed rural land with lovely views, and continue to receive many 5 star reviews with Airbnb, which has also yielded a 'Super Host' badge continuously for six and a half years now.
(1) The fully self-contained Finchley B&B cottage is adjacent to, but not overlooked by, our two-storey residence, and comprises two separate bedrooms, one with QS bed and one with a bunk bed (double base and single above), a shower room and separate toilet, 'pets' room' for bathing/grooming smaller dogs, sitting room with dining area and kitchen, plus a spacious North-facing deck with BBQ, seating, and dining table, at the front. As at December 2021, our rates for the main cottage commence at $185 per night (off-season, Sun to Thurs), $195 per night (off-season, Fri and Sat). This rate is for 1 or 2 people, and from $30 per extra guest per night, after two. There may be a token added cleaning fee for guests with multiple dogs, and guests are asked to guarantee pets, (as well as visiting friends, and children) are well behaved and house-trained! Finchley is 5 star customer-rated in Airbnb, ideal for a family of four, two couples, or four adults, and a fold out sofa bed is available in the sitting room for an extra guest. The entire property is fenced and secure, with also an enclosed rear yard. Please check Airbnb and HomeAway reviews and a few testimonials below, for plenty of feedback on what many of our guests say about their stay with us.
(2) 'Little Finchley' is also self-contained, a very small, motel style version of the larger unit, and is positioned between the main cottage space and our private residence. It comprises separate bedroom (QS bed), compact sitting room equipped with TV, DVD player, DVDs, and while it does not have kitchen facilities, it does include a kettle, toaster, microwave, coffee plunger, small electric frypan, bar fridge and 'Continental' breakfast supplies, plus a full bathroom (NB: SHOWER OVER BATH). It includes its own spacious gated North-facing deck area with al fresco seating, BBQ and separate private entrance. plus a fully fenced grassed area where your pet can be outdoors beyond the deck, in a secure space. The rate for the smaller unit starts at $120 (low season mid-week rate) per night for one or two people, including breakfast supplies, and it is ideal for a single or a couple, short stay or through-travellers just wanting a comfy stopover not far from the highway, in transit. It is also available as an extension to the main cottage, for a larger group.
Most of the property is available to our guests, and we have under-cover parking for one guest vehicle per unit and plenty of room to park extra vehicles, including caravans, boats etc.
Please refer 'Services' tab, or contact us direct for further details and availability. Well-behaved pets welcome, subject to negotiation upon requesting booking, and must not be left in the units unsupervised. Owners are requested to clean up after their pets, and dispose of waste with either the pooper scooper provided, or doggy-do bags also provided, these to be tied up and placed in the red lidded council bin. It is also requested that pets not be permitted to take bones or greasy food indoors or chew them on the outdoor furniture as this can be difficult to clean.

The yard was fantastic for our dog Ted, and the verandah so nice to relax and enjoy the view. We definitely recommend staying here." (Kathryn, Sydney - November, 2020).
"We had the absolute privilege of staying in Little Finchley for a weekend. Bronwyn was an amazing host, the house was stocked with everything we needed and the property itself is beautiful. We loved hearing about the story behind the place, and watching the birds come to feed in the morning! The location is perfect and secluded, but close to Jervis Bay and everything the Shoalhaven area has to offer. We will definitely be back to stay in this home away from home." (Aidan and Robyn, Sydney - Sept 2020).
"I had the pleasure of staying at Finchley this week, and what a gem. Nothing was left to chance . Both humans and furbabies were well catered for. It is in a lovely bush setting not far from south coast beaches and attractions. Very peaceful, with only the sounds of the birds. Hosts are so welcoming, and the accommodation is both private and comfortable . I’ll definitely be back. (Gaye, Sylvania, NSW - Sept 2020)
"..we had everything we needed and more, and were most comfortable and relaxed! Rolo* was so at home, I think he felt he was! This area is so lovely - I especially enjoyed the birds and what a pleasure to find a truly pet-friendly place. Thank you for thinking through all the smaller details - it makes such a difference. We will be back soon, I'm certain! (Alice, Denis and Rolo, Sydney - stayed Little Finchley - Sept 2020). *dog...
